CareLabl ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the CareLabl mobile application.
Information We Collect
Camera Images
When you scan a care label, your device camera captures an image. This image is sent to our server for processing and is not stored after analysis is complete. We do not retain copies of your photos.
Note on App Privacy labeling: Apple's App Store nutrition label classifies CareLabl's handling of photos as "Data Not Collected." Under Apple's framework, data is only considered "collected" if it is retained or accessible after the request completes. Because CareLabl discards images immediately after analysis — with no server-side storage and no retained access — Apple's label is accurate. The image does transit our server, but it is never stored or associated with your identity.
Anonymous Device Identifier
We use a RevenueCat anonymous user ID to track your device for subscription management and scan count enforcement. This identifier cannot be linked to your personal identity.
Purchase History
Subscription and purchase information is managed by RevenueCat and the respective app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store). We receive subscription status information to provide you with the correct level of service.
Local Storage
The following data is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Garment library - saved garments, care instructions, and fabric composition
- Scan cache - previously scanned label results for faster repeat lookups
- Settings - your temperature unit preference and app configuration
All local data is stored using SQLite on your device. You can delete this data at any time by deleting the app.
Third-Party Services
- RevenueCat - for subscription and purchase management. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Google Vertex AI - for care label image analysis. Images are processed and not retained. Google AI Data Governance
Data Retention
- Server-side: No user data is retained. Images are processed and discarded immediately.
- Local: Data remains on your device until you delete the app or clear app data.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties. We do not use advertising SDKs or analytics trackers.
Children's Privacy
CareLabl is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Security
We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data transmission and Google Cloud Platform's security infrastructure for image processing.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
